Unique among Hobart’s hotels, the Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel occupies not one but two historical buildings in the heart of the city center: one a stately stone structure from 1840, the other a 1940s Art Deco gem. A thorough renovation leaves the interiors looking classic yet contemporary, and a modern expansion brings it squarely into the 21st century. The rooms and suites are luxe and not at all un-stylish, and the public spaces are substantial; there’s Peppina, an authentic Italian restaurant, as well as the Deco Lounge and a craft cocktail bar called Mary Mary.
