Philadelphia’s hip Fishtown neighborhood is the setting for this substantial red brick structure, which was first a women’s home and later a retirement community. It seems the third time’s the charm — Anna & Bel sees this institution (and the neighboring buildings) turned into a stylish and modern boutique hotel. The 50 rooms and suites are decorated in a style that’s both warm and minimalist, memorably mixing modern and antique elements. Add an interior courtyard, complete with a heated pool, as well as a Mediterranean restaurant called Bastia, and this is arguably the neighborhood’s first proper, full-featured boutique hotel.
