The Comporta Peninsula, an hour and a half to the south of Lisbon, is known for its endless expanse of idyllic Atlantic-facing beach. Less well traveled is the village of Comporta itself — but that’s where you’ll find AlmaLusa Comporta, the country cousin of the capital’s stylish AlmaLusa Baixa/Chiado. And in a region almost exclusively known for high-end luxury hospitality, AlmaLusa Comporta is remarkable for its ability to deliver a stylish and thoroughly relaxing experience at a price that doesn’t exclude the vast majority of travelers who might be in the market for such a thing.

And at all levels they’re attractive spaces, minimalist in their broad outline but full of organic textures and natural materials. A café, a breakfast room, and a pair of bars keep guests restored throughout the day, and there are more to be found in town within a few minutes’ walk. Meanwhile the beach is also close by — as tempting as AlmaLusa may be, this coastline is something special indeed.
