Located just steps from the hallowed Ryman Auditorium in Music City’s Downtown, Hyatt’s Holston House is an art deco beauty of a tower reborn as a boutique hotel. It’s still decked out in the ornaments of yesteryear — neon marquee, octagonal windows and sconces, open staircases — but with a contemporary accent courtesy of Stonehill Taylor in New York. In the rooms, leather and velvet accoutrements mingle with elements nodding to Nashville’s musical legacy; the spacious, welcoming lobby’s conversation piece is a wall of vintage speaker cabinets. There you’ll find a bar, as well as another one by the poolside on the rooftop terrace. TENN, the Holston House’s restaurant, serves “honest, local fare” — an upscale re-imagining of crowd-pleasing dishes like shrimp and grits and fried chicken sandwiches.
