Glamping and cabin-style lodgings are popular around Guatapé, an Andean village famous for its spectacular landscapes. Tau House, a luxurious boutique hotel, offers something different in the region. It’s still immersed in nature — the modern wood and stone building is positioned on the shore of the turquoise Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir, with floor-to-ceiling windows revealing sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and forest — but the atmosphere is sophisticated and upscale.
Rooms and suites are calm and elegant, each with a private wooden deck or balcony, many of which feature open-air Jacuzzis. The best ones have high wood-beamed ceilings and water views. The airy indoor-outdoor restaurant faces the same dramatic scenery, and down by the reservoir, there’s a larger Jacuzzi and fire pit, a floating dock, and a fleet of kayaks and canoes for self-guided adventures.
