In Midtown’s Overton Square, The Memphian channels Memphis’s artistic energy into a hotel that feels more like a gallery with rooms. Opened in 2021, it is a riot of pattern, texture, and local artwork, from animal-print carpets to hand-painted murals, the kind of place where no hallway looks like the last. Rooms span everything from compact kings to sprawling suites with freestanding tubs, designed with the same offbeat flair. Complicated Pilgrim, the ground-floor restaurant, draws a steady crowd, but it is Tiger and Peacock on the roof, with its celestial ceiling and cocktail-fueled views, that steals the show.
