Sitting on the banks of the Golden Horn, Aliée Istanbul originally began life as the Aynalıkavak Pavilion before later becoming one of the city’s most important shipyards. The centuries-old property has undergone a dramatic transformation to be reborn as a hotel, but the years of history can still be felt in Aliée’s bones, namely the original stone walls and arched windows that have been left exposed in the guest rooms, and the 600-year-old hammam that is currently being restored to soon reopen as the private Heritage Villa.
The muted color palette of the rooms and suites shows off some rather lavish furnishings, including handwoven silk Turkish rugs, bespoke bas-relief headboards, and carved dual marble sinks, as well as the sweeping views across Istanbul and the Golden Horn. The design gets ramped up a notch in the public spaces, the Little House restaurant is an actual house built inside the lobby and guests will find pink Murano chandeliers in The Pink Bar. And that’s just two of the hotel’s many F&B options. The rest of the facilities are equally impressive; there’s an Olympic sized lap pool at Aliée Swim Club, and The Well + Spa at Aliée is a vast three-level wellness area with its own swimming pool, a marble Turkish hammam, various saunas, and a mix of high tech and traditional wellness treatments.
