The name can be read as a reference not only to the Orient but to the immediate geographic situation; EAST Hong Kong is set in Taikoo Shing, just around the bend from Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, a setting that’s still urban and convenient, if not absolutely central. In fact EAST is the more business-oriented of Swire Hotels’ sub-brands, which makes EAST Hong Kong a cousin to the ultra-luxe Upper House.
And while it’s a more affordable, attainable experience, it’s plenty luxurious, and far more memorable than most business-oriented luxury hotels. The vibe here is high-design contemporary boutique chic, with modern furniture and eye-catching photo murals in the rooms, plus espresso machines and some impressive views, especially from the bay-facing side.
While there’s plenty to do in the surrounding neighborhood, the hotel’s own offerings are worthy ones, from Sugar, the rooftop bar and terrace, to FEAST (Food by EAST), a casual all-day eatery that features Asian and European flavors.
