An 18th-century olive mill on the mainland-facing coast of southeastern Corfu, mere minutes down the coast from the city, is now The Olivar Suites, a luxurious and stylish boutique-style resort that offers a memorably cosmopolitan take on Greek island life. Its 120 suites surround the old mill in a village-like arrangement, affording the accommodations an extra measure of privacy; most of them come with plunge pools or small swimming pools, and all of them are decorated in a manner that avoids island kitsch and lets the setting speak for itself.
The beach lies just beyond the row of sea-facing suites, and a substantial swimming pool offers a freshwater option.
