Modern Design & Lively
There’s no law that says a boutique adaptation of a 1950s motor lodge has to go in for mid-century modernist nostalgia. The motel that’s now Farmhouse Paso Robles was designed in a country-cottage style, which is an excellent match for what draws most of the region’s 21st-century visitors: the region’s booming trade in wine production.

The renovation accentuated the rustic-chic style of the original Farmhouse, and the resulting hotel feels more like an agricultural village than a roadside motel, its cottages connected by paths that wind across sculpted gardens. There’s a touch of Moroccan and Italian influence in the interiors, and the atmosphere is as tranquil as can be, even with downtown Paso Robles just a few blocks away — a fleet of Linus bikes is available for getting out and about. Curated minibars bring local products into the rooms, and there’s more to discover in the Farm Shop.
