Contemporary Classic & Lively
Asheville’s most famous landmark was a key inspiration for one of the city’s coolest boutique hotels. Structurally speaking, the Restoration Asheville may not seem to have much in common with the Biltmore Estate; the former is in a modern building downtown, the latter a French Renaissance–style chateau on the outskirts. But the hotel’s striking lobby, with its elegant archways and towering bookshelves, mirrors the work of the Spanish architect who designed the estate’s interiors in the 1890s, and the ethereal garden bar on the rooftop, with views over the Blue Ridge Mountains, resembles the Biltmore Conservatory. Rooms are light-filled and industrial-chic with exposed brick detailing, velvet loveseats, creative lighting, and bar carts stocked with craft spirits. Downstairs, an all-day café serves elevated southern fare, and a cozy basement bar features a bowling alley and local beers on tap.
