There’s a storybook charm to Domaine de Locguénolé & Spa, the very first Relais & Châteaux hotel in Brittany. It’s set on a wooded estate overlooking the Blavet river, with grounds featuring rows of apple trees tended by a local cider-maker, a quaint greenhouse protecting aromatic plants, resident goats, chickens, and ducks, and flowering gardens designed by a Versailles-born landscape architect.
The elegant guest rooms and suites are spread out among a collection of restored historic buildings — a centuries-old manor house, a château, stables, an old henhouse — and a midcentury sailboat now parked on dry land, the main deck transformed into a private rooftop terrace. Tennis courts and an outdoor swimming pool add to the appeal, as does L’Inattendu, a one-MICHELIN-Star restaurant, and a chic garden bistro with sea views.
