Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels — note the plural — is not just one boutique hotel, but eight of them, built into the eponymous Souq Waqif in the heart of Doha, a near-century-old crossroads and open-air market. Handcrafts, traditional garments, spices and more are sold in and around the properties, which have been built to showcase classic Arabian-style architecture. Each has its own character, The Bismallah, for example, is the oldest hotel in Qatar, and individually decorated rooms and suites have been richly dressed in Arabic designs that celebrate Qatari heritage. The eight restaurants, a swimming pool and The Spa are split across a selection of the hotels, all within easy walking distance to each other, or just a short golf cart drive away.
