Perhaps inspired by similarly situated dwellings on the island of Santorini, Acro Suites brings cliffside romance and carved-rock drama to the north coast of Crete. This adults-only resort-style luxury boutique hotel is the smaller and more reserved sister to the Sea Side Resort, right next door — an arrangement that allows Acro Suites’ guests to use Sea Side’s substantial facilities, but not the other way around.
Then again Acro Suites is perfectly capable of standing on its own. Its 49 suites and villas are equipped with all the necessities, including views out to sea and private plunge pools, either hugging the cliff edge or carved into stone caves. In the bedrooms, modern conveniences like Nespresso machines and Marshall bluetooth speakers complement low-tech luxuries like plush, high-end mattresses and minibars stocked with locally sourced snacks.
The Bath House features a hammam and dry sauna as well as massage and facial treatments; there’s a shaded yoga pavilion that’s open to the breeze, and a small but capable gym. And the gastronomy is no small part of Acro Suites’ appeal; Cremnos, the hotel’s high-end modern Greek restaurant, is paired with Umi, a marriage of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines.
