There’s something pleasantly down–to-earth about Bratus Hotel in downtown Aqaba. Unlike many of the coastal city’s luxury hotels, the majority of which are affiliated with international chains and located in a designated hotel zone, this boutique hotel is part of an independent Jordanian hospitality group that’s focused on sustainability. Rooms, though modern, are more classic than cutting-edge, outfitted with rich wood paneling and nature-inspired hues of ivory, taupe, and forest green. There’s a vintage look to their wrought-iron balconies and intricately tiled bathrooms, and some face the mountains or the Red Sea in the distance. Rounding out the hotel’s simple offerings are a café, restaurant, and a small spa, and the beach is just a short stroll away.
