A renovated and expanded farm by the side of the Loire, Le Bois des Chambres is perhaps most visually memorable for its distinctive dome-shaped restaurant. The old stone structures have been augmented by a pair of contemporary lodges whose forms follow the traditional silhouette but whose materials are decidedly modern. The guest rooms occupy these lodges, and thanks to the new construction they’re free to re-interpret the Loire Valley architectural style through a contemporary lens. And Le Grand Chaume’s cuisine, to be fair, is even more memorable than its architecture, thanks to chef Guillaume Foucault.
