Situated at the foot of the Pieniny Mountains, midway between Kraków and the Slovakian border, Szczawnica is one of the oldest spa resorts in Poland — though one of its best hotels is relatively new. Szczawnica Park Resort & Spa’s decorative facade mirrors the Alpine-inspired architecture of the guesthouses and villas around town, and like other hotels in the area, it’s built around naturally occurring mineral springs. But unlike its quaint wooden counterparts dating back to the 19th century, Szczawnica Park is modern and sprawling in scope, occupying a large streamside complex with three stylish hotel buildings, a state-of-the-art spa and wellness center, multiple swimming pools, and a range of slow food-focused dining venues.
Rooms are outfitted with rustic-chic decor — hardwood floors, a sophisticated charcoal-and-white palette, plaid throw blankets, and moodily lit murals depicting nature scenes. Some have sleek kitchenettes or two-story layouts. Most rooms are housed in the main building, Hotel Szczawnica Park, while larger suites suited to families, including some with outdoor hot tubs, are located in the nearby Szczawnica Park Residence. Spacious apartment-style suites are in a third building, Willa Park, each with a private balcony facing the mountains. A generous Polish breakfast buffet is served in the hotel’s elegant dining room each morning, and outdoor adventures like skiing, hiking, and rafting await in the surrounding landscape.
