Lazuur is cosy and welcoming. It's the kind of neighbourhood restaurant everyone wants close by. Chef Sherif Khalil loves rich bistro flavours and likes to add Portuguese or global nuances to them. For example, he cooks red mullet juicily in crispy filo pastry and pairs it with marinated ginger, a deep curry sauce with umami, a touch of yuzu and textures of Jerusalem artichoke. This cuisine is powerful and at times playful. The menu is appealing, as is the chef's menu. And to accompany all these delicacies, Lazuur also has an impressive collection of port and Portuguese wines.
