It’s the whimsical life of fictional character Cristine Bedfor that has inspired Cristina Lonzano’s trio of eclectically designed guest houses, which feel more like visiting the home of a well-traveled friend than a hotel. For her Málaga abode, Lonzano rebuilt and refurbished a 19th bourgeois mansion on one of the city’s oldest streets, and created a collection of guest rooms that tell the stories of characters from Bedfor’s childhood. There’s a quirky mish mash of colourful stripes, rattan furnishings, and patterned tile flooring, and in the library more stripes are paired with stained glass lamps and a mix of artworks. The restaurant pays homage to character “Anne” and her love of horse riding, earthy green walls decorated with a collection of equestrian-themed photos.
