Contemporary Classic & Quiet
Vieux Lyon, with its car-free streets and its eclectic array of Renaissance and medieval buildings, is a splendid setting for a luxury hotel, and Cour des Loges Lyon, A Radisson Collection Hotel makes the most of it. The entry courtyard alone, doubling as lobby and ringed with arched walkways, is well worth the price of admission; winding stone staircases and multi-level arcades join its multiple buildings — the oldest dates back to the 14th century — into one labyrinthine complex.

Its 61 rooms and suites have been thoroughly renovated, adding a more modern aspect; they retain plenty of antique character, though, and each one is unique, from loft-style rooms with a modernist plan to more classic suites with fireplaces and timbered ceilings. The furnishings are a mix of period pieces and modernist design classics, while the comforts are contemporary yet unobtrusive.

Lyon’s status as France’s culinary capital means a luxury hotel had better devote considerable resources to its restaurants; here, as well, Cour des Loges is up to the task. Les Loges, the gastronomic restaurant, is helmed by chef Anthony Bonnet, while the bistronomic Le Comptoir is set on the Rue du Bœuf, adjacent to the hotel.
