Like all aspects of its hospitality landscape, London’s hotel scene is one of the best in the world – and the MICHELIN Keys are a reflection of that. With dozens of hotels across the capital bestowed with the award – which acts like a MICHELIN Star for hotels – travellers are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a top-class room for the night. Ranging from the sublime to the, well, also sublime (but in a different way), there are hotels for all tastes. Whether you like your hotels muted and modern or fun and fabulous, cutting-edge or classic to the core, we’ve got you covered.

On 8th October 2025, the latest MICHELIN Keys were announced, including four more hotels honoured in London. The Three-Key Hotels

When gazing longingly at London’s hotel elite, you will probably find more that unites them than divides them. They all deal in capital ‘L’ luxury; they all have desirable central London postcodes; and they all have a name you probably recognise. Yet when choosing which one’s right for you, it’s better to focus on their differences. If you want proper history, don’t look beyond The Savoy, The Connaught or Claridge’s. Expect top-hatted doormen and old-school opulence that’s beloved for a reason.

For the newer version of top-shelf London, look to The Peninsula and Bvlgari, their impeccable chic imported from abroad. The Four Seasons at Park Lane is 50 years old but still feels fresh, a well-kept midpoint between the old and the new. And for facades that take your breath away, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park and Raffles London at The OWO are rarely bettered.

The Two-Key Hotels

Most of the capital’s Two-Key hotels can be divided into one of two groups. On one hand we have the more imposing hotels with bigger footage and longer histories, the kind of properties that always feel like they should start with ‘The’: The Berkeley, The Dorchester and The Langham are three gorgeous examples. Then there are the young pretenders, those that embrace a more irreverent form of opulence and are generally smaller in scale. A trio of Firmdale Hotels dominate this group, but The Twenty Two would very much like to join the club. Of course, there are a couple that don’t quite fit in and are all the better for it: like the intriguingly small-scale 45 Park Lane, The Dorchester’s Art Deco little sister.

The One-Key Hotels

London’s One-Key hotels are a wonderfully varied bunch. It’s at this level of luxury that you’ll find fewer historic grande dames and more eye-catching boutiques. There are some slick conversions of classic London townhouses, from the bright modernity of The Adria to the countryside chic of Beaverbrook Town House; there are beautifully repurposed historic buildings, be they banks (Sofitel London St James) or courthouses (NoMad London); and of course there are the pattern-loving maximalists dripping in colour, from Broadwick Soho to another merry band of Firmdales. Finally, there are the one-of-a-kinds, from the Oscar Wilde-inspired decadence at L’oscar to the all-suite approach at The Emory.
