MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
With its classic take on N'awlins fare (think fried green tomatoes, turtle soup, and charbroiled oysters) Acadiana spices things up-way up-in a neighborhood best known for its convention center and business-minded clientele. Begin with a fluffy biscuit topped with sweet-hot red pepper jelly before tucking into one of the Creole or Cajun classics like jambalaya or smoked chicken and andouille sausage gumbo. The kitchen's take on shrimp and grits, dolled up with strips of tender Tasso ham and a crispy-gooey cheddar cheese-grit cake, takes the Southern staple to bold new levels. And though we wouldn't dare tell mama, the buttery pecan pie, topped with vanilla ice cream and layered with roasted pecans and caramel, is every bit as good as hers.
