West Chelsea's non-stop canteen is favored by a steady stream of gallerists, fashionistas, and tourists out for a jaunt along the High Line. Despite the glitz of this ascendant neighborhood, the look here is cozy, sociable, and downright humble. Pastas may veer from the Central European theme but are nonetheless delicious. Try the tagliatelle tossed in a buttery broth of clams, parsley, and garlic. Calf's liver here is outrageously funky and just as delicious, tender and supremely fresh beneath carmelized onions and a sweet wine reduction. The Nusstorte is a symphony of cruncy walnuts, sticky caramel, and Madagascan vanilla ice cream. Chase it all down with a Swiss wine or craft beer. Rocket Pig is the restaurant's highly popular offshoot next door.
