MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Sequestered into the second floor of a townhouse, light-washed walls, blonde wood furnishings, subdued art and sprays of poppies lend an ethereal, calm energy to this Spanish tapas gem. The menu kicks things up a notch, layering bright and bold flavors throughout their items. Small plate starters might reveal tender white asparagus laced with pea shoot "pesto," aioli and deliciously salty Serrano; or tender little ham croquetas, served with sharp mojo verde and folded with creamy béchamel. Seafood and meat options also abound, all well executed, but some notable vegetable preparations steal the show. For instance, pan-fried mushrooms on toast are punched up with manchego; while olive oil- and sherry-braised artichokes are coupled with a pine nut sauce.
