MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Boqueria may be an import from New York City, but the flavor is straight up Spain. This slightly creaky row home belies the stylish and modern interior. Head upstairs for a tête-à-tête, while the main level’s bar displaying meats and cheeses whets the appetite for what’s to come. And what is to come? Tapas, tapas and more tapas. Sure, there are salads and sandwiches, but with all-day small plates tempting you, why diverge? The offerings are familiar, with plenty of Spanish classics (croquetas, those fried fritters of gooey deliciousness, for one), but contemporary creations make their mark. Colorado lamb meatballs in a rich tomato sauce with sheep's milk cheese are spot on, while pulpo a la plancha over olive oil-mashed potatoes delivers a pop of flavor.
