MICHELIN Guide New York City 2018 Bib Gourmands

This year’s Guide highlights 127 affordable eateries in the Big Apple.

Bib Gourmand NYC

The list of the Bib Gourmand awardees for the 2018 edition of MICHELIN Guide New York City is here! Bib Gourmand restaurants are selected by Michelin's famously anonymous food inspectors, who choose restaurants serving high quality food on their menus and make it possible to order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included). These selections are very often the same restaurants that the Michelin food inspectors frequent when they are off the clock.

The total number of eateries included in this year's list is 127, down from 132 in the previous year. Eight restaurants from last year's list have since gone out of business, such as Biang!, Manila Social Club, and Pearl & Ash. Some of the places that are notably absent from the latest list include fast-casual fried chicken joint Hill Country Chicken, Denisse Lina Chavez's Mexican hit El Atoradero, and cash only Italian spot Lil' Frankie's.

A total of 14 new restaurants received the Bib Gourmand designation this year. Located inside the Arcadia Mall in Flushing, Dumpling Galaxy offers about 100 different dumpling varieties—such as lamb with cilantro or mushroom and eggplant—along with a selection of other entrées that inspectors say "shouldn't be ignored." Miss Ada in Fort Greene is another new addition, serving what they describe as "Mediterranean food with a twist." And in what seems to be a (partial) return to grace, Andy Ricker's Thai spot Pok Pok Ny makes a resurgence to the MICHELIN Guide after having one star in 2016 and then losing it the subsequent year. Alta Calidad, 21 Greenpoint and Hao Noodle and Tea are among some of the others to join the list.

Congratulations to all the Bib Gourmand awardees!
