MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Tucked away from the bustle of Greenwich Street is this particularly charming "Wallflower." It may be billed as a cocktail lounge, but the food is well-made and the vibe, full of heart. Divided into two, the tiny jewel box is decked out with gold pressed-tin ceilings, a marble bar and bright orange seating. Filled with a host of carefully composed dishes, the menu is a true deal in this neighborhood, especially with choices from the raw bar and charcuterie. Hearty appetites should try the country pâté or rabbit terrine, both classically prepared and perfectly seasoned. Beef short ribs are big on comfort, garnished with bacon, mushrooms and just the right drop of brawny sauce. The coffee-chocolate pot de crème is a deliciously intense dessert.
