MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

This clubby restaurant makes its home in the ever-popular Standard Hotel, nestled under the High Line. It’s a trés trendy crowd you’ll run with at the Standard Grill, where vintage plaid-uniformed servers, penny-tiled floors and a chic downtown interior give the place indisputable appeal. As for the food? It's perfectly well executed with Rocco DiSpirito at the helm. They're not reinventing the wheel on this modern, seafood-focused menu, but the ingredients are high quality and the execution is spot-on. Mackerel with julienned onions, fennel and plump golden raisins is well prepared and shows clear skill, while sautéed lubina with crispy skin and a saffron aïoil is another standout. The yuzu tart with a shortbread crust is elegant and glossy.
