MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

With its polished walnut staircase, curving banquettes, and tuxedo-donning staff, Thomas Aloysius Keller's new spot radiates old-school glamour. Set within The Shops at Hudson Yards, its name stands for the chef's initials; ergo, it's only fitting that the menu is a throwback to his childhood—and the heydey of Continental cuisine. Crab cakes, for instance, are a hit thanks to sweet meat, a great crust, and may be best accompanied by the chef's legendary Parker House rolls with Vermont butter. Pastas are equally exquisite and display his ability to exercise great restraint. Imagine bucatini dressed with bright pomodoro, buttery breadcrumbs, and freshly shaved basil. Cap off the feast with a decadent five-layer chocolate cake crowned by gold leaf.
