MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Pocket-sized Suki continues to dish out curry to large groups of loyal patrons. But, before you're thinking curry equals hot and spicy, think again, as the Japanese version is fruit-based and sweeter than its Indian cousin.Chef Kelly Cho impresses with her dry curry cooked with ground beef and served alongside white rice. At first glance, it may be reminiscent of childhood sloppy Joe's, but in fact features ramped up flavor and refinement along with hints of sweetness. Yaki curry, a casserole-style dish with rice and ground beef topped with a layer of creamy melted cheese delivers the kind of richness that leaves you wanting one more bite. Not all dishes are as hearty—seaweed salad, with its sweet and sour crunch, is as good as it is simple.
