MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

If the mostly Japanese crowd at this discreet spot doesn’t tell you you’re onto something, the charm and hospitality of the staff will win you over completely. This is a cozy room with lots of polished wood and lovely ceramics. A row of counter seats cuts down the middle of the space, along with a smattering of tables. Dishes are delicate and well-balanced—and if that isn't enough, most of them use authentic, imported ingredients rarely found in domestic kitchens. Diners may get nibbling on tart and bright sunomono tossed with thin rounds of octopus, shallots and wakame. Soft squares of goma tofu may then arrive in a clear pot with chilled soy broth, while a bowl of kamadaki rice is a seasonal treat, studded with snow crab, ginger and fresh parsley.
