This neighborhood charmer broke more than a few hearts when it briefly closed in 2018 after a small fire, but Greenpoint’s beloved Anella is back—and better than ever. Tucked into the bustling north end of Franklin Street, two jumbo windows glow from the warm, old-fashioned interior inside, fitted out with rustic wood and sepia-toned mirrors. Guatemalan-born Chef Mayo Orozco’s menu is delicious, straightforward and carefully composed. Starters include familiar but beautifully composed dishes like mussels, kale salad and grilled octopus; while heartier fare might range from steak frites to branzino and herb risotto. Don’t miss the creamy garlic hummus, laced with cauliflower and studded with whole chickpeas, then paired with house-made harissa and toast.
