4 Bib Gourmand Restaurants to Visit in Croatia

All priced between 200 to 250 HRK.

With mighty views of the sapphire Adriatic Sea and ancient towns, Croatia has a ton to offer—and the same goes when it comes to food.

Sixty-two restaurants are featured in the 2018 selection of the MICHELIN Guide Croatia. Four restaurants received the Bib Gourmand distinction in the second iteration of this guide, offering a quality menu under the price of €35/HRK 260.

On your next visit to Croatia, check out one of these not-to-be-missed Bib Gourmand restaurants.

Dunav

Ilok

What It Is: Located inside the family-operated hotel bearing the same name lies the 180-seat restaurant with a heavy focus on local seafood.

What Our Inspectors Say: “A small, family-run hotel-restaurant situated on the banks of the Danube with a simple yet well-kept dining room. The menu features fish from the 'great river,' including catfish, perch and trout.”

Konoba Fetivi

Split

What It Is: This family-owned restaurant has roots that run deep—300 years deep—serving up grandma’s recipes.

What Our Inspectors Say: “Run by a family with strong roots in the region, this authentic 'konoba' (tavern-style restaurant) is dedicated to serving local specialities, which include meat and fish dishes (the top-quality fish is a little more expensive than other options on the menu), as well as old family recipes such as the excellent apple strudel.”

Vuglec Breg

Krapina

What It Is: The Vuglec estate stretches over 12 hectares of beautiful hills.

What Our Inspectors Say: “Housed in a beautifully kept rural property in a secluded, panoramic location, this restaurant serves traditional cuisine and produces its own wine. The warm family welcome and attractive guest rooms make this a perfect place for a relaxing stay.”

Konoba Mate

Korčula

What It Is: It’s another family affair at this 18-year-old establishment serving farm-to-table fare on the island of Korčula.

What Our Inspectors Say: “It's well worth heading a few miles into the island's interior to eat at this charming family tavern where the owners not only raise goats and chickens but also grow the vegetables used in their dishes. The whole family works hard to create the simple, yet delicious food served here. Specialities include ravioli stuffed with a creamy goat sauce and braised lamb with peas and potatoes.”
