MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

This stylish brasserie is located just off the corner of McCarren Park, making it the ideal see-and-be-seen spot in Brooklyn’s reigning neighborhood of scene. The name translates to “wild and natural” in French, and that’s a perfectly apt description for the handsome retreat, with its thoughtful list of biodynamic wines. From the polished walnut bar to the hand-blown glass chandeliers, leather booths and tropical plants, you’ll feel transported out of NYC to Nice. The French-heavy menu offers outstanding versions of such steadies as beef tartare and steak frites, but the seafood is truly notable. Imagine perfectly cooked skate Grenobloise with brown butter and capers; or grilled trout amandine with haricots verts to get a sense of this kitchen's prowess.
