MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

If the Great Gatsby himself opened a restaurant, it might look something like the unabashedly gorgeous Somerset, the Boka Restaurant Group’s long-awaited sashay onto the Gold Coast dining scene. And what an arrival indeed—nestled within the stylish Viceroy hotel and featuring what can only be described as a sublime yacht-club décor, with gilded mirrors, curvy blue banquettes and luminous art deco light fixtures. Chef Lee Wolen’s seasonal American cuisine is beautifully executed and surprising in all the right ways. Don’t miss the smoked beet tartare, elevated to such heights you might never go back to beef, or flawless squid ink chitarra. A deconstructed carrot cake, tucked with buckwheat tuille, cream cheese mousse and blood orange, is divine.
