Two hours outside Pune, in the agricultural flatlands near Baramati, a European-style chateau with a soaring tower and terracotta roof cuts an unlikely figure against the Maharashtra countryside. The 32-room hotel that now calls it home has been thoughtfully overhauled; rooms are bold and eclectic, with burgundy as the dominant note, mid-century upholstery, chandeliers, patterned rugs and art collected from flea markets across France. The Four Seasons winery still operates on the same 66-acre estate, with guided cellar tastings available to guests. Rosso covers Italian; the Pool Club runs from breakfast through to late evening. Ananda in the Himalayas manages the spa program.
