MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

The classic steakhouse gets a wine country twist at this standby, where the G&Ts are designed to specifications and the dry-aged USDA Prime steaks hold equal standing with the “vegetable cocktail”—a stunning edible still life of local produce. But indulgence is still the name of the game, from a take on the classic wedge salad made with local Point Reyes blue cheese to a decadent mashed potato pancake. With a bucolic location off Highway 29, Press combines traditional dark wood, cozy booths and a flickering fireplace with lofty and soaring ceilings. The well-to-do crowd marvels at decorative wonders like a massive ceramic clock sourced from a bygone New York train station, all the while sipping full-bodied Napa reds that pair perfectly with the rich food.
