MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Chef Timothy Hollingsworth has another triumph on his hands with Otium. This stunning wood-and-glass building seems to soar above the park plaza below and features a lovely outdoor seating area. Inside, find an industrial-chic décor with a dramatic display kitchen. Vertical rooftop gardens support their farm-to-table ethos; ingredients are pristine; and the menu is brazenly eclectic.
To wit: a funnel cake with earthy beets, fennel ribbons and a smear of chamoy sounds like a fusion nightmare. But in truth, this extraordinarily planned dish is a success, not unlike the lamb loin paired with roasted tomatoes and mashed potatoes. A caramel-crowned parsnip-banana cake may sound simple but delivers a solid finish.
