MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

This upscale spot in the Ace Hotel typifies the neighborhood’s revival, with an open floor plan, mirrored walls, popular wines and ambitious food from a pedigreed and well-known kitchen team, starring Chef Michael Cimarusti. It also honors the area’s history, taking its name from the first film shown in 1927 at the adjacent theater. The menu reflects a few strong Italian overtones, as evidenced by the paccheri stuffed with bitter greens and layered with a cheesy béchamel. But you'll also find the freshest of seafood here complete with global influences-imagine black cod crudo with powdered nori and tortilla salt. Close out over coconut pandan pudding with mango and calamansi.
