MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Few grandes dames of high-end French cuisine remain in the city, but this long-running elder from Chef/owner Roland Passot has held strong. With two formal dining rooms featuring starched tablecloths, polished servers and a tall art deco wine case, it’s a favorite among occasion-celebrating couples and the luxury-loving tourist crowd. Diners can build their own three- to five-course prix-fixe, with classic dishes like a double bone-in lamb chop or a tower of crispy goat cheese, eggplant and portobello mushroom. Thicker wallets can splurge on the chef's-choice tasting menu or the array of sumptuous supplements, like butter-poached lobster. For dessert, chocolate lovers should be sure not to miss out on the velvety Valrhona mousse.
