MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
Even by the standards of luxuriously appointed Napa Valley restaurants, Archetype is quite the looker. Blending farmhouse comfort with luxurious modern touches, it’s just as glamorous for an evening meal by the fireplace as it is for brunch on the covered, screened-in patio strewn with climbing yellow rose bushes. During the day, the menu focuses on comfort food like velvety artichoke soup with parmesan foam and flaky cheddar biscuits with sausage gravy. At night, things get more ambitious with such satisfying plates as oak-grilled duck breast with scallion pancakes and gochujang; or curry-braised red snapper with crab dumplings. There are also plenty of fun theme nights for locals-from fish taco Thursdays to fried chicken and waffle Sundays.
