Four new affordable restaurants joined the highly regarded Bib Gourmand list in the 12th edition of the 2018 MICHELIN Guide San Francisco. The Bib Gourmand list recognizes establishments offering quality cuisine for a maximum price of $40 (tax and gratuity not included).
This year’s list includes a diverse variety of cuisines including Chinese, Italian, Spanish, vegan, and, of course, Californian.
New on the list is chef/owner and author Tanya Holland’s Brown Sugar Kitchen in Oakland, a casual and welcoming place where visitors enjoy soul food cuisine based on organic and seasonal ingredients, like a signature buttermilk fried chicken with a cornmeal waffle.
Mexican fare revelers can get their taco and margarita fix at the vibrant PLAYA in Marin, owned by Peter Schumacher with Bill and Vanessa Higgins.
Pausa, a contemporary Italian restaurant in San Mateo (pictured in the hero image above), also earned a Bib this year. And Royal Feast in Millbrae, where Chinese chef Zongyi Liu delivers authentic Sichuan dishes, was also awarded.
Congratulations to the Bib Gourmand awardees.
