2016 Zuccardi José Malbec Valle de Uco Mendoza Argentina$40
Robert Parker Wine Advocate team says: "This is the continuation of the old Z bottling, but here the wine is aged mostly in 2,500-liter oak vats rather than in smaller barriques. There are herbal notes reminiscent of green tea leaves, spices and berries. The palate is serious and has chalky tannins, as they select grapes from places in the Valle de Uco that have limestone soils. It seems like they have found the way ahead for this wine in 2016; it's fine, precise and elegant. 94/100"

Pair it: Prepare an Argentinean asado, a fun and social, mixed-meat barbecue or try empanadas for something lighter.

2016 Il Borro Toscana IGT — $55
Robert Parker Wine Advocate team says: "The 2016 Il Borro is a seamless, full-bodied red wine that presents an A-list aromatic presentation with dark fruit and plum followed by savory spice, leather and tobacco. The quality of the fruit is sweet and bright, but there is also a distinct mineral note to the wine that contrasts the sweetness with saltiness. The tannins are well integrated and there is enough acidity to lift the entire flavor profile of this beautiful wine. 96/100"

Pair it: Match this hearty red to a plate of pappardelle al ragu di cinghiale, or ribbon pasta in a slow-cooked wild boar sauce.

2017 Comtesse de Cherisey La Genelotte Meursault-Blagny Premier Cru — $115

Robert Parker Wine Advocate team says: "The 2017 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru La Genelotte is showing beautifully in bottle, unwinding in the glass with aromas of white flowers, crisp green orchard fruit, citrus zest, struck match and oatmeal. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, it's tensile and chalky, concluding with a long, elegantly chalky finish. 94/100"

Pair it: This matches well with fresh seafood dishes, whether fish or crustaceans—langoustines, scallops, sole, turbot. Don't be afraid of sauces involving butter or cream, either.

2018 Perliss Cabernet Sauvignon The Ravens Calistoga Napa Valley — $160
Robert Parker Wine Advocate team says: "Cabernet Sauvignon The Ravens has a deep garnet-purple color, prancing out of the glass with vivacious scents of blueberry pie, black currant cordial and fresh blackberries plus hints of cinnamon toast and clove oil. Full-bodied, the palate has an approachable structure of finely grained tannins and bold freshness supporting the tightly knit black fruits, finishing with a spicy kick. 96/100"

Pair it: A simple steak or, lamb chops on the grill, or duck breast. Aim to keep red meats on the rare side to bring out the most in the wine.

2018 Kongsgaard Syrah Hudson Vineyard Napa Valley — $200
Robert Parker Wine Advocate team says: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Syrah Hudson Vineyard barrel sample explodes form the glass with an incredible array of classic Syrah notes: black cherries, black plums, blackberries and licorice with hints of garrigue, tar, bouquet garni and bacon fat. Full-bodied, the palate is equally atomic, with bags of expressive black fruits and meaty/peppery hints framed by ripe, rounded tannins, finishing long, refreshing and oh-so-spicy. 99/100".

Pair it: This would meld perfectly with beef on the barbecue—a ribeye or striploin would be ideal! This bold wine's flavors also have the power to stand up to a top-notch burger.
