Romance is synonymous with Rome. Whether you’re falling in love with someone or the Eternal City itself, here are the hotels that ignite our hearts.

Rome is a city that overflows with romance—not just because it serves as the perfect backdrop for falling in love.

It’s the way smartly dressed couples stroll leisurely down narrow cobblestone streets, pinkies clasped. It’s the rich bliss of the first bite of carbonara and the tuft of foam atop a perfect macchiato. It’s the thrill of a scooter ride along the winding path to the Passeggiata del Gianicolo, where a food truck sells Peroni and couples snap selfies against the sweeping views of the Eternal City. It’s the sherbet-pink hue that spills across the horizon at dusk.

In terms of hotels, romance lies in the details. It’s a feeling that envelops you the moment you step into the lobby. From moody Art Deco hideaways to dolce vita-esque villas, here are The MICHELIN Guide's sexiest stays in Rome. (And here is our entire selection of hotels in Rome.)

Chapter Roma

Rome has its fair share of glamorous and opulent hotels. Chapter Roma combines that level of luxury with a design-forward approach. Interior architect Tristan Du Plessis respected the hotel’s 19th-century bones, infusing them with a moody, industrial modernism. Gem-toned Art Deco-inspired decor combined with irreverent street-inspired touches adds up to a swoon-worthy experience.

Palm Suite

Housed in an 18th-century palace, Palm Suite combines the calm and privacy of a private home with the accessibility and amenities of a luxury hotel in the heart of Rome. The ten maximalist, contemporary suites feature bespoke artworks and eclectic, eye-catching pieces. And perhaps the most romantic touch of all: the suites offer stunning views of the Colosseum, surrounded by the ancient remnants of the Roman Forum.

True to the brand’s signature style, Soho House Rome is designed to make a statement—this time, with a striking ten-story Modernist-inspired structure. Set in the up-and-coming district of San Lorenzo, the hotel exudes the feel of an exclusive residence and private members’ club. Its eclectic, art-filled spaces are shared not just with travelers but with a discerning local crowd, making it a hub for those in the know.

Nobildonne Relais

Built in the late 19th century, the Palazzo Mereghi captures a neo-Renaissance style that harkens back to the 16th. Its modern incarnation as Nobildonne Relais seeks to recreate the environments of four Roman noblewomen from the 16th and 17th centuries—one suite is dedicated to each. Within, you'll find soaring ceilings with Renaissance-style frescoes, Venetian mosaic tile floors, and even space for entertaining a few guests—unless you prefer to keep the party private.

Six Senses Rome

Rome, Italy

Six Senses Rome occupies a historical palace, in this case the 18th-century Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini, a former cardinal’s residence whose exteriors and architecture have been meticulously restored and preserved. Inside, however, the sky was apparently the limit for designer Patricia Urquiola; this, like any Six Senses, is as thoroughly modern a luxury hotel as you’ll find anywhere in the world.

The Rome EDITION

The Rome EDITION makes a big splash—exactly what you'd expect from an Ian Schrager creation. This 91-room luxury boutique hotel strikes a balance between grandeur and intimacy. Just off the lively Via Veneto and Piazza Barberini, it still manages to feel both exclusive and serene. The rooms are understated, with a warm, minimalist design, while the public spaces deliver a dose of drama—from the dazzling, emerald-hued Jade Bar to the lush courtyard garden.

G-Rough

There's no lobby at G-Rough and that's the point—to feel like you're coming home to your private Roman pied-à-terre. Housed in a 17th-century building, G-Rough defies categorization, combining Italian design from the 30s, 40, and 50s—"eclectic" is an understatement. Every detail is chosen for its beauty as well as the contrast and tension of textures it creates.

Hotel Scenario

On an unassuming side street in the heart of Rome, Hotel Scenario is a discreet retreat that blends old-world grandeur with contemporary minimalism. Housed within the façade of a 17th-century palazzo, the interiors are pure 21st-century design-hotel chic. Designers Studio MORQ have transformed the space into a study in modernist restraint, yet historic details remain—frescoes, columns, timbered ceilings, and time-worn stone staircases.
