Owner Yannick Bigourdan named his French restaurant after his grandmother who clearly inspired his journey into the world of hospitality. No doubt she would approve of the warm, inclusive atmosphere and the attentive service. It’s a sizeable space, whose quasi-industrial looks are tempered with an abundance of hanging pendant lights, while shaded glass in front of the kitchen allows hints of the activity within. While the food is recognizably Gallic, there’s a discernible contemporary edge to the dishes, whether that’s the rewarding vichyssoise or the quail with sweetbreads. Lunch is a relatively simple affair but things go up a gear at dinner, with a six-course tasting menu offered alongside the prix fixe. Even the cocktails have something of a French accent.
