If you want to see how a high-end business hotel should run, then you should get yourself to the nearest Pacific Rim megacity. Hong Kong will do nicely. Here, in the Admiralty district, just east of Central on Hong Kong Island, is the Conrad Hong Kong, a five-star hotel attached, in the current Far East fashion, to the Pacific Place retail and entertainment complex.
Should your ideal hotel checklist include the word “intimate,” you may lean towards giving this five-hundred-plus-room behemoth a pass. But while it’s no boutique, it’s hard to feel anonymous when you’re subject to service as intensive as the Conrad’s. Anyway, from within the confines of these expansive, quietly stylish rooms, you’ll spare few thoughts for your fellow travelers. The comforts are state-of-the-art, all your electronic needs are covered, and the views of the city and the harbor do tend to concentrate the attention.

That means four restaurants, a full-service health club including a pool and spa, and enough business and meeting facilities for just about any event. Add in everything Pacific Place offers, and there’s no need you absolutely can’t fulfill within these walls.
