MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
Perhaps the first thing to mention is that Bruno Cirino's restaurant, housed in the converted refectory of an annexe of Lérins Abbey, has bags of style: high ceilings, painted vaults, Pompei-like frescoes of fruit and vegetables, beautiful tiles and a 17C fireplace, plus, a small flower-decked terrace with a sea view. As for the food, the dishes are a reflection of the chef himself: generous, full of character, the embodiment of the South of France… He uses ingredients from the Mediterranean region – sourced from both sides of the border with Italy – to great effect (fish from nearby ports, vegetables from neighbouring folk).
