MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
One MICHELIN Key · A very special stay
This is France, yes, but this corner of Lorraine, mere minutes from the point where the borders with Germany and Luxembourg meet, has a character all its own. And the same can be said of Le Domaine de la Klauss, whose rough-hewn stone walls put one in mind of a medieval fortification, but whose modern-luxe interiors and five-star services make it anything but forbidding.
The hotel’s rooms and suites occupy a variety of spaces, from the original structure to the more contemporary — but still stone-clad — outbuildings. The most humble among them are spacious and exceedingly comfortable, and the suites quickly enter into exceptional territory, culminating in the 80-square-meter suite atop the Domaine’s tower, with its bedside Jacuzzi and its panoramic view of the valley.
Le Domaine’s spa spreads out over 800 square meters, and offers a panoply of treatments in partnership with the Gemology brand. The setting, naturally, affords access to a wealth of outdoor pursuits, including equestrian activities in the company of the Domaine’s Iberian horses. Most central to the experience, however, is the cuisine, from Le Komptoir, the wood-fired bistro, to Le K, the more formal gastronomic option.
