Marina hotels and Germany aren’t an obvious combination, but Flensburg, at the end of a protected fjord, is an exception. And Das James is unusual even by local standards — its English name sets the tone for a hotel with a bit of country-house influence, as well as a strong current of urban loft style. The most basic rooms look out into a courtyard or garden, while the better ones face the marina and the harbor. Breakfast is served in the James Farmhouse restaurant, while Das Grace is the top-floor fine-dining restaurant, and the Lion the cozy English-style cocktail bar.
