Mooncakes And Tea Are A Match Made In Heaven At Man Fu Yuan
Man Fu Yuan infuses tea into its ambrosial snowskin creations for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
23 August 2018
In Chinese tradition, the Mid-Autumn Festival is an occasion for family and friends to gather, sitting outside in the soft glow of paper lanterns, sipping tea and nibbling on wedges of sweet mooncake while admiring the moon at its fullest, also known as shang yue
. Indeed, mooncakes and tea are a natural pairing, inspiring Man Fu Yuan
’s tea-infused creations for the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on 24 September this year.
Man Fu Yuan
has created four new tea-infused gems for its Snowskin Mooncake: Tea Collection
($74 for a box of four), inspired by the selection of premium tea blends at InterContinental Singapore’s award-winning Chinese restaurant.

This year’s creations come in bold hues of cream, black, orange gold and emerald, each fashioned in Man Fu Yuan
’s signature floral mould and packaged in a beautiful latticed chest with motifs of birds and flowers in vibrant colours.
At the heart of each snowskin mooncake is a flavoured chocolate truffle. Inside the smoky black sesame snowskin mooncake is a filling of nutty black sesame paste encasing a chocolate truffle scented with osmanthus flowers, while the cream-coloured Earl Grey With Strawberry Chocolate Truffle is redolent of citrusy bergamot and black tea.
Matcha-lovers will enjoy the Green Tea With White Chocolate truffle that is rich with a slightly-bitter taste that is characteristic of matcha. The orange gold snowskin cloaks a smooth filling of white lotus with a chocolate truffle centre perfumed with Mandarin orange peel tea.

Equally delightful are Man Fu Yuan’
s selection of six classic baked mooncakes. The signature Baked Mooncake With Double Yolks And White Lotus Paste ($74 for a box of four) are available alongside the perennial favourite of low-sugar white lotus paste mooncake, generously studded with crunchy macadamia nuts ($70 for a box of four).
The baked mooncakes are filled with your choice of red or white lotus paste and come in both single or double yolk options as well as one with assorted nuts — a crunchy, fragrant blend of almonds, walnuts, macadamia nuts and sesame seeds.
